Join us for our first event in March! We are screening "HOME", a short film by UWAMAHORO Mucyo Rebecca. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director of the movie, as well as a musical performance by singer/songwriter and performer Kaya Byinshii.
Synopsis of the film:
A family in the midst of a crisis discovers that one of its members is gay and struggles to find meaning and acceptance. Each individual family member meanwhile is confronted with his/her/their own personal moral dilemmas as the stigma of being gay is highlighted.
Subsequently, the director of the movie UWAMAHORO Mucyo Rebecca will answer all your questions about the production of the film and the film itself.
Born on 15th December 1998 in Nyamirambo, Rwanda, Kaya Byinshii is an artist – singer/songwriter and performer who has grown and trained her spirituality in music since she was in church as a little girl.
Dubbed the ‘Volcano’ due to her stage performances, Kaya Byinshii does world music by exploring different music genres, including but not limited to urban folk, soul, blues and soft rock with her sultry voice. Through her music, she aims to create a free and safe space for self-consciousness.
