International Conference The Future of Critical Theory

The international conference ”The Future of Critical Theory” took place 30 November – 2 December 2017 at the Goethe-Institut in Stockholm. During three days, scholars from Europeand the US analyzed the state of Critical Theory today, both in relation to the long and complex history of the Frankfurt school, and as something that must continually reinvented. The title of the conference, “The Future of Critical Theory,” served to delineate a task that also implies a historical analysis of this theory’s earlier developments. This is reflected in the scope of participants, which include both senior scholars who have been decisive for the reception of the Frankfurt School up to the present, as well as younger ones, for whom the further development of Critical Theory is dependent on its capacity to receive new theoretical impulses.
