The Goldfish

A high-rolling fund manager becomes a paraplegic after an auto accident and ends up in a rehabilitation facility with a bunch of interesting residents. Shenanigans ensue, and he hatches a plan to smuggle his illegal earnings across the border, but learns a few other life lessons along the way.

 I Was, I Am, I Will Be © Level K

I Was, I Am, I Will Be

When Kurdish gigolo Baran meets cancer-stricken pilot Marion at a holiday resort in Turkey, an easy flirtation develops into a marriage of convenience. But when they move to Germany, things soon prove to be less simple, in this unlikely story of love growing where worlds collide.

Hello Again – A Wedding Day © Beta Cinema

Hello Again – A Wedding Day

Zazie lives with womaniser Patrick and sweetheart Anton, in wacky flat share where all are incapable of maintaining a romantic relationship. When Zazie gets invited to her best friend’s wedding, she decides to do everything she can to stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life.

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit © Beta Cinema

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit

Based on a semi-autobiographical novel, this is the story of little Anna Kemper and her family, who flee Berlin on the eve of the fateful election in 1933. Forced to leave her beloved plush rabbit behind, Anna must find courage, in this tale of upheaval and harrowing circumstance.

My Little Sister © Beta Cinema

My Little Sister

Lisa, once a brilliant playwright, gives up her ambitions and moves to Switzerland with her husband. But when her twin brother, Sven, an actor with the illustrious Schaubühne theatre, is diagnosed with aggressive leukaemia, she returns to Berlin, in this tender rumination of fate, art, and one’s lot in life.

 Neubau © Media Luna

Neubau

Markus is torn between his love for his grandmother and his longing for a new life in Berlin. In daydreams, he sees shimmering fairies promising freedom from loneliness. But with his bags already packed for the big city, things become complicated as he finds himself falling in love with Duc.

Berlin Alexanderplatz © Beta Cinema

Berlin Alexanderplatz

In this startling, neon-lit reinterpretation of Alfred Döblin’s 1929 novel, Francis is an immigrant struggling to make a new life for himself; without papers, without a nationality, and without a work permit, his good intentions and life spin out of control, as he is sucked into Berlin’s underworld.

The Fam © Latido

The Fam

The lives of seven teenage girls are forced together in a residential care home with social workers. Like a family, they live under the same roof but haven’t chosen each other. The forced experience creates tension and unexpected intimacies, in this authentic take on safe spaces for young women.

Virtual Screenings

The Green Lie © Reservoir Docs

The Green Lie

Environmentally friendly electric cars, sustainably produced food, fair production processes: Big Corp has us believing that we can save the world just by buying the right stuff. But is this the truth? The documentary offers an insight into greenwashing, and how consumers might protect themselves.

Relativity © Telepool

Relativity

Nora and Aron fall in love one rainy day on a train. Nora claims coincidence; Aron claims fate. In a twist of circumstance Aron is killed in a robbery, and Nora soon finds herself in the arms of Natan—only she has an overwhelming feeling that this new man in her life is someone she already knows.

Free Country © Telepool

Free Country

It is rural Germany in 1992, where the East German regime still lingers. Two police inspectors are sent to investigate the disappearance of two teenagers. Did they run away from their hick town, or did something more sinister happen? It seems everyone has something to hide here—including bodies.
