Blended Learning Course

50% classroom sessions, 50% tutored and assessed self-study

Our standard language courses are currently offered in blended learning format. The classroom sessions take place at the Goethe-Institut Singapore.

“Where and how” during the current situation The classroom sessions take place at the Goethe-Institut on fixed dates (once or thrice a week). 

The online phases take place on the Goethe-Institut's learning platform.

50% of a blended learning course consists of independent online learning.
You will be given access to our online platform where you will find the online part of your chosen course. This online part contains motivating and varied exercises and communicative group tasks to practise vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, understanding written and spoken texts and writing. The online platform also provides summaries of all the important grammar structures and useful phrases you will learn during the course.

You work on these assignments flexibly at your own pace within the respective self-study phase. Your teacher provides individual support and guidance. 
All course materials required for the blended learning course are included in the course price of the course and will be made available to you online.
In a blended learning course, you learn as much as in a classroom course. The learning time of three hours per week in a standard course is divided into two parts:
  • 1.5 hours per week of classroom sessions at the Goethe-Institut Singapore
  • 1.5 hours per week tutored and assessed independen online learning

Individual course online

For your individual needs

In the online individual course you can practice reading, writing, speaking and listening in a flexible way. You determine your learning speed and content. Throughout the course, your teacher provides continuous individual feedback. You meet your teacher on the Zoom meeting platform. Talk to us!

Terms of Payment

Fees are payable in full on enrolment and before commencement of the course, no later than the specified payment deadline. At the moment, we accept payment via bank transfer only.

Failure to make timely payment will result in loss of place in the course without further notice.

Unless stated otherwise, books must be purchased separately. Blended Learning Courses include the teaching material on our learning platform.

The contractually binding fee is the fee stated on the website of Goethe-Institut Singapore.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations up to five working days (Mon-Fri) before the start of a course are free of charge. In case of cancellation up to 1 week after the start of the course in standard extensive courses, the course fee will be refunded minus an administration fee of S$ 70. No (partial) refunds are possible for later cancellations and for intensive courses. We ask our students to carefully consider their other obligations and personal circumstances before enrolling.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing. The date of cancellation shall be the date of receipt at the Goethe-Institut Singapore. 

Course fees cannot be transferred to another term or another person, be it in full or in part.

In order to achieve active engagement amongst course participants, all our courses require a minimum of 8 students for our extensive group courses and a minimum of 6 students for our intensive group courses. In the event that these minimum numbers are not fulfilled, the Goethe-Institut reserves the right to cancel affected courses and a full refund will be granted for payment made.

Change of Course

Transfers to another course level can be considered after the first course day, one time only and after consultation with your teacher and the Language Office.

General Conditions

Our courses are designed for adult learners (age 16+).

The maximum number of participants of Blended Learning Courses is 12 for standard and intensive courses.

Please note that special conditions apply for young learners’ courses, one-to-one and small group tuition, corporate courses and examinations.

There will be make-up sessions for public holidays as per in-class arrangement.

Goethe-Institut Liability/Force Majeure

The liability of the Goethe-Institut and its employees is limited to intent and gross negligence. The Goethe-Institut is also not liable for disruption to its services due to force majeure (e.g. natural disaster, fire, flood, war, official orders and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contract parties).

When an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of Goethe Institut such as a war, strike, riot, crime, epidemic or an event described by the legal term act of God (hurricane, flood, earthquake, volcanic eruption, etc.), we are subjected to offer course adjustments (e.g. room or schedule adjustments).

Yes, for young learners, we offer courses in German as a Foreign Language and German as a Second Language.

The courses German as a Second Language (DaZ) target cross cultural children aged 7 to 12 years, who are familiar with the German language but typically need support with their grammar, orthography and vocabulary.

The courses German as a Foreign Language (DaF) are designed for children aged between 7 and 12 years who want to learn German.

In the event of serious, extraordinary circumstances or events or a change in already existing such circumstances or events which are beyond the control of the Goethe-Institut (e.g. unrest, war or terrorist conflicts, natural disasters, epidemics, etc.), we reserve the right to offer you changes to the services (e.g. in terms of time or space). In this case we will submit a new offer with a deadline and ask you to inform us whether you wish to accept the changed offer or withdraw from the contract. If you withdraw from the contract, we will reimburse you for any payments you may have made (if applicable, pro rata according to the status of the service provision).
