  • The course material has to be bought separately
  • In case of cancellation or withdrawal before the course starts, the course fee will be refunded *subject to a deduction of an administrative fee 
  • In case of cancellation or withdrawal two weeks after the course has started, no refunds or credit notes for future courses can be issued
  • If enrolments are insufficient on the starting date, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the course
  • Student membership fee is per annum upon enrolment in any course and not refundable:
    • S$ 42.80 for adults (18 years old and above)
    • S$ 21.40 for junior members (under 18 years old)
  • All prices are inclusive of GST.

 

1. General Requirements
Course participants should be at least 18 years of age. Teenager older than 15 years can attend on request.

2. Terms of Payment
2.1. Upon application, the payment of course fees is due in full. Cash and cheques are accepted.
2.2. If full payment is not received by the due date, the participant loses the right to participate. In such cases, the Goethe-Institut retains its entitlement to the course fee.

3. Course fees
3.1. The contractually binding fee is the fee stated in the price list current at the time of application.
3.2. Should a participant wish to change his or her booking (change course day *subject to availability), then such change is free of charge.
3.3. If not noted differently, the cost for course material is not covered by the course fee.

4. Cancellation and refunds
4.1. The following conditions apply if the course participant is unable to take part in the course: In case of cancellation up to the first week after the start of the course, Goethe-Institut will withhold S$ 50 of the course fee. In case of cancellation within the second week after the start of the course, GI will withhold S$ 100 of the course fee.
4.2. Cancellations must be submitted in writing. The date of cancellation shall be the date of receipt at the Goethe Institute.
4.3. It is not possible to confer a course or a part of a course to a third party, neither to transfer the course fee to the next term.

5. Course level assignment / class size
5.1. Placement in course levels is based on the placement test conducted at the Institute.
5.2. Our courses have at least 10 and at most 18 participants. If enrolments are insufficient on the starting date, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the course. In this case we will offer the participants the opportunity to move to another course (course of the same level with a vacancy for a different day) or to receive a full refund of the course fee. We regret that we can only conduct courses that have the minimum number of participants by the end of the enrolment period. To avoid cancellations of courses that would have taken place if participants had enrolled in time, we advise students in their own interests to register before the deadline.

6. Responsibilities of participants
Participants are obliged to comply with the course rules and house rules applicable to the Goethe Institute.

7. Liability of the Goethe-Institut
The liability of Goethe-Institut and its staff is limited to intent and gross negligence. Goethe-Institut also accepts no liability for the cancellation of its services due to force majeur (e.g. natural disasters, fire, floods, war, official orders and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contractual parties).

8. Data Privacy and Consent Declaration
The Goethe-Institut takes data privacy very seriously, and wishes to inform you about the collection and use of your personal data.

i. Data-privacy declaration and the legal body responsible
This data-privacy declaration concerns the collection, processing, and use of your personal data (the “data”) in connection with registration for Goethe-Institut courses and examinations via Goethe-Institut’s web pages or in person, and the conducting of the courses and examinations themselves. The body responsible for the data-privacy laws is the Goethe-Institut e.V., based in Munich (Dachauer Str. 122, 80637 München, Germany), represented by its Singapore office under the Personal Data Protection Law in Singapore.

ii. The use of your data
You can make use of our Internet services without registering (eg. if you only require information). In this case, no personal data will be collected, processed, or used. However, if you wish to register for a course or examination, certain data will be required. Those data which are essential for us in booking and conducting the course or examination are mandatory information in the context of this registration. Additional information is optional. The collection of your data and their later use is done for the purpose of registration via the Internet or in person, and for the purposes stated in the Declaration of Consent below. We only share your data for the purposes given in this Declaration of Consent, and with the categories of recipients listed below. For technical reasons, other data are transmitted to us via the Internet, such as your IP address, the referrer, etc., by your computer or Web browser are only collected and used by us to the extent permitted by law.

iii. Additional notes on “cookies”
We regularly make use of the technique of Web browser “cookies” in order to enable you to log in automatically at a later visit. We also use cookies to identify you when you browse from one page to the next. If you have disabled cookies in your browser, you can still use our personalised Web services, but it will not be possible to log in automatically.

iv. Revocation
You can revoke the use of your data for market-research, advertising, and marketing purposes at any time. All that is required is an e-mail message with a corresponding notice to: widerruf@singapore.goethe.org. If you would like to revoke your permission to use your data in Singapore, please send a notice to revoke@singapore.goethe.org.

Declaration of Consent
By submitting the Online Registration Form, I consent to the transmission and storage by the Goethe-Institut of my personal data (“data”) provided under the terms of my registration and in conjunction with the performance of future agreements to its headquarters in Munich, Germany (“Goethe-Institut-HQ”) and there to combine in its central customer database said data with any other of my personal data previously provided and stored there, if applicable.
Furthermore, I consent to the use of my Data by the Goethe-Institut and Goethe-Institut-HQ not only for performing the contractual agreement, but also for the purposes of market research, advertising and marketing associated with the range of services offered by the Goethe-Institut and, in particular, for providing relevant advertisements or surveys (“Information”), e.g., about new courses offered by the Goethe-Institut.
Information may be sent to me at the contact address I have provided, either by post, by telephone, fax, e-mail, and/or text message (SMS).
Data concerning examinations I have taken may also be transmitted to Goethe-Institut-HQ for storage and use in the central examination archives (for a maximum period of 10 years) for verification purposes and for issuing duplicate certificates, as required. To the extent the Data relates to examinations entitling my foreign spouse to relocate to Germany with me, I hereby authorise Goethe-Institut-HQ to confirm, at the request of the German authorities, the authenticity of a certificate I have submitted to a government agency. The Goethe-Institut will not use my Data for any other purpose than those specified in this consent agreement or provide any Data to a third party, unless there is a reasonable suspicion of abuse concerning the Data.
I have been informed that I may revoke my permission to use my Data for market research, advertising and marketing purposes at any time.
