In line with the Singapore authorities' directives, the Goethe-Institut Singapore is gradually reopening.

We offer German exams, individual courses and courses in blended learning format on site at the Institut. 

The Institut is open to the public from 25 January 2021, the library remains closed for renovation.

Safe Entry

From 17 May 2021 onwards, all students will have to adhere strictly to the TraceTogether only SafeEntry check-in requirement when entering our Institut. All students aged 7 and above will have to use either the TraceTogether app or token for SafeEntry at the Goethe-Institut.

Please make sure that you have downloaded the TraceTogether app or collect a token from your local Community Centre. You can find out where and when to collect the token at this government website https://token.gowhere.gov.sg/. For more information on how data is encrypted, secured and used, read the TraceTogether token FAQ https://token.gowhere.gov.sg/faq.

Please note that this is a government regulation and the Goethe-Institut Singapore needs to comply with the implementation strictly.

German Language Courses 

We offer all standard and intensive courses as blended learning courses. From term 1/2021, the classroom sessions take place at the Goethe-Institut Singapore.

Digital Library - Onleihe

Our library remains closed until further notice. An automatic renewal of all borrowed material has been made and no fines will be imposed in the period of closing

More than 35,000 German-language e-books, audio books, films, materials for German students, magazines and newspapers are available for download in our eLibrary, Onleihe. Register and activate the service to use it on a computer or on mobile devices.

Frequently asked questions

All current courses are continued online in blended learning format. 

Online learning consists of a variety of phases and methods:
  • You work on exercises, tasks and texts individually from home, instructed and coordinated by your teacher
  • You work on written assignments, which will then get corrected by your teacher
  • The online course room enables you and the rest of the class to meet virtually with your teacher during online live sessions in which you communicate with each other either via a forum or live chat/video chat application.
