INFORMATION: COVID-19

We at the Goethe-Institut are closely monitoring official information and taking action to prevent the spread of the virus.
In line with the Singapore authorities' directives and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Goethe-Institut Singapore will operate all its services online only from Friday 27.03.2020 until further notice. All language courses will continue as online classes. Our team is please to stay in touch by telephone from 10 am – 4 pm  or through email to answer any questions.

The Goethe-Institut and its teaching staff remain committed to our language training through our digital classrooms and encourage students to continue their learning online. We will ensure our classes are as fun and enriching as our students are used to.

Follow our website and social media as we will continue our programme with online activities on culture and life in Germany and Singapore. Visit our digital library „Onleihe“ to access books, films and other media digitally.

The team here remains available and are pleased to stay in touch through email or telephone to answer any questions. We wish all our students, partners and their families to stay safe and healthy.

German Language Courses #onlinestattcorona

From Friday, 27 March 2020, face to face classes at the Goethe-Institut Singapore will be replaced by digital online courses. We ask that you stay home or in a safe place. Your teacher will contact you with the information you require. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions:

Digital Library - Onleihe

Our library is closed from Tuesday, 24 March 2020 until further notice. An automatic renewal of all borrowed material has been made and no fines will be imposed in the period of closing

More than 35,000 German-language e-books, audio books, films, materials for German students, magazines and newspapers are available for download in our eLibrary, Onleihe. Register and activate the service to use it on a computer or on mobile devices.

Frequently asked questions

From Friday, 27 March 2020, face to face evening and weekend classes at the Goethe-Institut Singapore will be converted to online formats. We will contact you with the information you require for your course “Deutsch online” very soon. We shall do our very best to ensure that you enjoy the online lessons and complete the class successfully.

Online learning consists of a variety of phases and methods:
  • You work on exercises, tasks and texts individually from home, instructed and coordinated by your teacher
  • You work on written assignments, which will then get corrected by your teacher
  • The online course room enables you and the rest of the class to meet virtually with your teacher during online live sessions in which you communicate with each other either via a forum or live chat/video chat application.

All books, magazines and DVDs currently on loan will be automatically renewed. You can also make use of our free eLibrary, Onleihe.
