1 week - 9 internationally awarded German films

Good news for cinema lovers: the German Film Week is back!

From May 23rd - 28th, internationally acclaimed highlights of contemporary German cinema will be screened at the Paragon Cineplex in Bangkok.  For the "German Film Week 2017", the Goethe-Institut Thailand has selected a total of nine films. These have recently been screened at festivals all over the world and illustrate the creative diversity of German cinema. The films will be shown with both English and Thai subtitles.

This is already the fifth German Film week to be organized by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the Thai Film Archive and Paragon Cineplex. The opening film is the German Oscar nomination "Toni Erdmann". This father-daughter tragicomedy has received immense international praise and is also the winner of the European and the German film awards.

Over the course of one week, film enthusiasts will have the chance to catch a diverse selection of German films. To name a few, "Berlin Syndrome” will keep you on tenterhooks from beginning to end. "Herbert" tells the emotionally stirring story of a terminally ill ex-boxer. The film won several awards and has received very good reviews, particularly in Germany. We also included the black and white film "Fritz Lang" in our programme, a new film (2016), shot with old techniques in an attempt to authentically depict the life of the great film director. Complementary to this we are screening the classic "M" - one of the most famous of Lang's works.
There are many more exciting films to watch so come and join us and immerse yourself in the world of German cinema!
