Konrak Mime Festival 2017

Pantomime at its best in Bangkok

The “Konrak Mime Festival” was a great success last year. This time round, it will be staged at the Thailand Cultural Centre Bangkok from 21st -23rd July. You will be left speechless by this art form which says so much - without a word being spoken!
 
The 2016 festival was founded by the Sathirakoses-Nagapradipa Foundation and organised by the Konnakhao Mime Academy. News of its success spread fast and this year’s festival has attracted even more artists (national and international), partners and supporters. One international artist performing this year at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut is Taro Sládek. Son of the famous multitalented Milan Sládek, Taro was introduced to the world of art and culture at an early age and equals his father’s brilliance as a pantomime artist.

In the course of his career, Taro has been active both onstage and backstage. He played his first big role in the ballet-pantomime “Die Zaubernacht” (“Magic Night”), which was a great success. He continued to work regularly with his father. Together they gave several performances including the Greek drama “Antigone”, which was staged internationally.

After receiving Milan Sládek as guest artist at the Konrak Mime Festival last year, it is now our pleasure to raise the curtain for his son. Taro will give a solo performance in four parts. Just to give you an idea of what awaits you, the themes of the performances include “Icarus” with his infamous wings, “Fox and the City” - a fox story from Japanese folklore and “Infinity” which will show in a more abstract way the circle of life. Taro has also chosen to present his favourite ballet “Swan Lake” in the last part.
