  • Book talk with Dujdao Vadhanapakorn, Intira Charoenpura and Uthis Haemamool. The talk and discussion will be moderated in Thai by Katanyu Swangsri. The translator Dr. Anchalee Topeongpong and the publisher Rangsima Tunsakul will also participate in the discussion.

Thomas Melle’s novel Die Welt im Rücken (The World at Your Back) was the first book selected for the Merck Social Translating Project which started in 2017. The Thai edition is translated by Dr. Anchalee Topeongpong , and published by Library House Publishing.

Multitalented artist, theatre director and actress Dujdao Vadhanapakorn isn’t only known for her exceptional performance skills. Being a dance movement psychotherapist, she also hosts a podcast channel “RU OK” that discusses human behavior and mental health issues.

The famous actress, moderator, book author and passionate reader Intira “Sai” Charoenpura is one of many who has suffered from depression. But she is one of a few people who openly talks and shares about her experience with mental illness.

The S.E.A. Write Award holder Uthis Haemamool is one of the most discussed authors of contemporary Thai literature. He shares some similarity with Thomas Melle, particularly in the complexity of vivid and deep emotions in their contemplative and talented story telling. 

Our moderator Katanyu Swangsri is experienced in many fields. He was a writer before starting his path to be a stand-up comedy performer, the profession he always wanted. He will lead the discussion during the book launch as well as being sure everyone’s enjoyment. 

Kusama: Infinity

KUSAMA Princess of Polka Dots explores artist Yayoi Kusama’s journey from a conservative upbringing in Japan to her brush with fame in America during the 1960s (where she rivaled Andy Warhol for press attention) and concludes with the international fame she has finally achieved within the art world. Now in her 80s, Kusama has spent the last 30 years living in a mental institution in Japan.
