For this year’s International Translation Day – which is marked every year on September 30 – we embark to praise language professionals and celebrate the work and essential roles which contribute to the rising influence of globalization in the 21st century.

6.00 PM “Multilingualism, Language Competences and Use. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in its Thai translation” - Outlining a project with Pascale Fabre, Director of Alliance Francaise Bangkok and Jörg Klinner, Head of the Language Department and Deputy Director at the Goethe-Institut Thailand

6.30 PM “Translation in a Digital Age” - a discussion with:

Pakorn Krisprachant, professional interpreter and instructor specialized in “Interpretation and Computer-Aided Translation” from the Translator and Interpreter Association of Thailand

Ass. Prof. Sarapi Gaston, former director of Chalermprakiat Center of Translation and Interpretation, project coordinator of the “Thai Food Terms” app and French lecturer at Chulalongkorn University

Prodpran Arunyig, translator from Social Translating and Germanistic Lecturer at Thammasart University

Dr. Thepchai Supnithi, head of Language and Semantic Technology Laboratory (LST), National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC)

7.30 PM Cocktail reception, networking

**The first talk will be in English. The second talk and discussion will be in Thai with a summary in English.

The event is organized by the Goethe-Institut Thailand in cooperation with the French Embassy in Bangkok and Alliance Francaise Bangkok. Kind support from the Chalermprakiat Center of Translation and Interpretation, the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), and the Translator and Interpreter Association of Thailand also helped make this event possible.
