Maissa Lihedheb

Maissa Lihedheb © joannalegid German-Tunisian filmmaker, writer, and curator. Her work explores identity, representation, and social structures, often through the lens of dark comedy and feminist horror. She has directed and produced 13 short films, a feature documentary for ARD, and a TV show for ZDF Neo. Her short film Dogfriend premiered at BFI Flare and screened at Tribeca, winning Best Film at Interfilm and earning a nomination for the German Short Film Awards. In 2020, she founded the BIPOC Film Society, advocating for intersectionality and representation in film. She is an Ang Lee Scholar, holds an MA in Film from NYU Tisch, and her work has been exhibited at the Film Museum Frankfurt and on Arte.
