Three non-capital cities in Ukraine have received an opportunity to implement their Cultural Development Strategies with the support of the EU4Culture project.

RESULTS OF THE THIRD GRANT CALL STAGE ANNOUNCED

In October 2021 EU4Culture announced three Ukrainian cities to receive EUR 30 000 grant and prepare their Cultural Development Strategies. The call aimed to support non-capital cities and towns to develop and implement Cultural Development Strategies, following the approach of the European Capitals of Culture. Overall, 70 cities from 5 Eastern Partnership countries participated in the call. After the first call stage, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Vinitsya, and Zhytomyr were preparing their concepts for the competition. As the result of teh second round, the following three cities from Ukraine were selected: Poltava, Rivne, and Vinnytsia.

Selected cities received up to 30 000 EUR grants to develop the Cultural Development Strategies. At the final stage of the call, one town or city out of these three was supposed to be awarded a grant of up to 300,000 EUR to implement its strategy. However, the project decided to support all three cities and divide the funds equally. Also, according to the results of the second stage, Poltava could not continue its participation, so the next city in the ranking received an offer to implement its project - Odesa.

Thus, currently Vinnytsia, Odesa and Rivne were awarded 100,000 EUR each and are implementing the activities planned within their strategies until the end of 2024.
