EU-funded House of Europe Programme
Call for 4 Project Managers

The Goethe-Institut Ukraine, the official cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany and a leading international cultural organisation in Ukraine, is recruiting 4 full-time Project Managers (from June for ca. 3.5 years) for the House of Europe programme.

role purpose:

  • to manage complex programme activities such as grants for international mobility and co-operation, professional capacity building tours, and residences in EU countries, mobile information hubs and events in different regions of Ukraine;
  • to ensure high-quality programme activities meet partner, donor, and participant expectations, and are delivered on time and to budget;
  • to develop selection criteria, quality and evaluation standards, decision-making procedures, annual project management plans, activity content, communication, dissemination, and sustainability strategies, in close co-ordination with other section Managers, the Monitoring & Evaluation team, and the Team Lead;
  • to undertake monitoring and evaluation of the respective activities in accordance with House of Europe, Goethe-Institut, and EU standards;
  • to reach out to and collaborate with partners, experts, professional networks, and organisations on both Ukrainian and international levels;
  • to manage operational finances, financial planning, and reporting for the respective activities;
  • to manage intersectional workflows with other programme sections and centralised units (e. g. communication, monitoring and evaluation, overall financial management);
  • to manage inter-organisational communication and workflow with implementing partners (Goethe-Institut, British Council, Institut français, České Centrum);
  • to report to the Team Lead;
  • to lead activity-allocated teams of Project Officers and Project Assistants;
  • to contribute to the visibility of the House of Europe programme in Ukraine and in the EU.

skills, experience, and qualifications for the role:

Essential:
  • English and Ukrainian to C1 level. Good German skills are an asset;
  • university degree in culture management or equivalent;
  • at least two years’ experience in successful delivery of projects to agreed financial and non-financial targets;
  • at least two years’ experience in working on donor-funded grant disbursement programmes in Ukraine or equivalent;
  • substantial experience in leading a team;
  • substantial experience in working in an international, English-speaking environment. 
Desirable:
  • experience in developing/managing international cultural exchange;
  • experience in organising events, tours, mobile projects, mobility schemes;
  • experience and expertise in civil engagement, reform processes, change management;
  • experience in successfully pursuing and developing projects through donor-funded, sponsorship-, client-, and/or co-funded partnerships;
  • qualification/expertise in a sector relevant to House of Europe’s programme activities. 
Personal skills:
  • strong team player, ability to reflect team and leadership roles, to react to problems in teams;
  • self-reflection, willingness to revise, acceptance of criticism, ask questions where necessary;
  • creative and analytic thinking, structured and result-oriented approach, ability to get things done;
  • availability to work under stress, with temporarily high workload, and under minimal supervision;
  • readiness to work on weekends and in the evening, and for work-related traveling.
