The work of Merle Kröger and Philip Scheffner depicts migration and the refugee experience in a variety of ways, approaching their complexity across different media, genres, and viewpoints. Together, they run the Berlin-based film production platform pong.

A crime author, screenwriter, and film producer, Kröger presents her recently translated book Havarie (engl. Collision, Unnamed Press, 2017) at the Goethe-Institut, in a reading and conversation about literature and film with Sukhdev Sandhu of NYU’s Colloquium for Unpopular Culture.

Scheffner’s eponymous—and yet radically different—film Havarie (2016) comes back to Anthology Film Archives for a one-off screening and will be showcased alongside two other works. Colorado Velcu, the protagonist of Scheffner’s earlier film Revision (2012) and co-director of his more recent And-Ek Ghes... (2016), joins them for Q&A sessions after the screenings.
