Photographer Matthew Rolston presents HOLLYWOOD ROYALE: Out of the School of Los Angeles

A reception and book signing will follow the presentation. Rolston will meet guests and personally sign books that will be available for sale.

The cultural connection between the glamour of Weimar-era Berlin and the development of the Hollywood glamour aesthetic in the 1930s is explored by Hollywood photographer Matthew Rolston as he presents his 1980s retrospective book and exhibition, Hollywood Royale

HOLLYWOOD ROYALE: Out of the School of Los Angeles is both a book and an exhibition by noted celebrity photographer Matthew Rolston.

Hollywood Royale paints a fascinating picture of an indelible image-maker and the entertainers, models, and stars he immortalized during the 1980s, including such icons as Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, Sylvester Stallone, Drew Barrymore, and many others.

More than just an examination of Rolston’s work, this talk, including a video and slideshow, will encompass the true meaning of Hollywood glamour, its origins, demise and modern resurrection.

Rolston frames fascinating connections between such creators and artists as Josef von Sternberg, Marlene Dietrich, Helmet Newton, George Hurrell and Andy Warhol, as he traces the history of Hollywood glamour.
