The Big Pond #01: The Things We Brought

Migration
© Chris Gash

There are things that hold history for each of us – a stitch, a book, a hat – things that we carry around for our whole lives. In this episode, we hear three stories about things that were brought to the U.S. from other countries and what they mean to their owners.

For The Big Pond, Katie Davis talks to Sandra Castillo from Cuba, Katia Sipple from Germany and Cosmin Soare from Romania – all of them tell us about their migration to the US, and they describe special items they brought along from their home countries.

Katie Davis © Darrow-Mongtgomery Katie Davis is a writer and producer living in Washington D.C. Her work appears on NPR's All Things Considered and This American Life.
