The “Studienbrücke Deutschland” program consists of the following modules to provide linguistic and subject-matter-specific preparation for studying in Germany:
Selection Process and Summer Camp
After a selection process
in May 2017, which will evaluate the students’ motivation and German language skills, students will participate in a summer camp (08/13/17 -08/25/17). The goal of the camp is for the students to get to know each other and for them to be able to take the Start Deutsch 2 exam at the end of the camp. This exam is required in order to continue participating in the project.
Intensive German language instruction
In the subsequent 2017/18 school year, the selected students will receive intensive German lessons (2.5 hours of instruction per week), so that they can take the B1 exam at the end of the school year.
After graduating from their local high schools, the participants will spend one year at a German high school. This academic year at a German school will be organized by the German American Partnership Program
(GAPP). The goal is for participants to get to know Germany and its education system and to prepare them to study in Germany. This will also allow them to take the language exam required by the universities (e.g., TestDaF
) at the end of the school year. During this school year, the students will also receive academic guidance counseling to prepare them to study at a university.
Participants commit to participate in the aforementioned modules. If participants violate the terms and conditions of participation without a valid excuse, they will be removed from the program.
