GAPP supports teachers and schools in arranging successful bilateral school exchanges for their students. We offer workshops and resources, provide assistance throughout exchanges, and award travel grants and individual scholarships to teachers, exchange groups and individual students. Immerse-U exchange platform webinars

GAVE is offering participating schools a free access to a virtual platform ImmerseU that is specifically designed for cross-cultural exchanges and complies with all U.S. and E.U. privacy protection laws. All GAVE exchange activities are integrated into the platform and we are constantly adding new exchange topics there. If you would like to find out more about the advantages and capabilities of the ImmerseU platform and how you can conduct your GAVE exchange using it, join us for a webinar on one of the following dates:

GAPP Alums: We want to hear your story!

GAPP alum aufruf © Colourbox GAPP alumni can be found all over the U.S. and Germany! Since 1972, GAPP has supported more than 400,000 students to go on exchange trips to Germany or the United States. That's an amazing amount of experiences, encounters, and stories that have led to lifelong growth and friendships! 

GAPP would like to hear about the experiences, places, and people from the time of your stay abroad that made a lasting impression on you. We want to know how your exchange influenced you on a personal and professional level.

Take a German language course!

Teachers of subjects other than German as well as administrators wishing to learn German can apply to participate in one of the upcoming online courses offered by the Goethe-Institut.

To apply for a full scholarship for the course from the German American Partnership Program, fill out this form and indicate that you are seeking a GAPP scholarship.

German-American Virtual Exchange (GAVE)

GAVE is a virtual exchange program that offers teachers the support in the form of guidelines, lesson plans, and worksheets that allow them to offer a virtual cultural exchange to their students. Click here to learn more.

Virtual exchanges open to all schools!

Whether your school has a German program or not, you are eligible to participate in a virtual exchange with your students at no cost to you. Technology grants and logistical support are available. Sign up to attend any one of our upcoming webinars!.

Our progam is educational and immersive. We invite all schools, with or without a German language program, to take part in our enriching GAPP exchange.

  • teachers working at one of the five official German Schools Abroad in the U.S.
  • German Language Advisors (Berater für Deutschunttericht) as determined by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA)
