SMART Museum of Art

Referencing the history of space and form through architecture, design, and imagery, Claudia Wieser considers the coexistence of abstraction and physiological experience through her spatial installations. Taking inspiration from both modernist geometric constructions, the exhibition will include hand-painted and patterned ceramics, carved wooden sculptures, tiled mirrored sculptures, woven tapestries, fine colored pencil and gold leaf drawings and large and small plinths that act as both sculptures for display and sculpture themselves. She will also create a new wallpaper that will undulate with imagery of historic sculpture and architecture, as well as include color and imagery from popular culture and lesser-known avant-garde material, all taken from her vast photographic archive.
