Edition 6/2021

Newsletter for Teachers of German

Deutsch | English

Dear colleagues,
Are your students looking to expand their skill base to meet the demands of the labor market? This month we are introducing Career Bridge. A unique opportunity for high school seniors and community college students, this new program aims at building synergies between talented trade students and the German vocational system. Applications for the piloting group are accepted until June 30, 2021.

As we celebrate Pride this month, explore how diversity and identity find their way into language with our newest U-Häppchen Gendern im Deutschen. June is also National Safety month. If you teach kids ages 8-12, head over to Kinderuniversity, a free-of-charge digital educational platform to learn how laser technology is used in cars for navigating.
Also new: A user-friendlier PASCH- website. PASCH (Partnerschulen für die Zukunft) is a global network of over 2000 schools in 120 countries, 13 of which are supported by the Goethe-Institut USA.

Looking forward to fall? Mark your calendars for a conversation with diversity trainer Josephine Apraku on September 4th at 11 am CT.  She will address frequently asked questions about racism in Germany that are of interest to educators in the US. Submit your questions in advance by June 30, 2021.
Enjoy your well-deserved rest and happy summer!
