German Digital JuniorUni

The German Digital JuniorUni is a free educational project of the Goethe-Institut for anyone over the age of 14. It offers the opportunity to find answers to the most exciting questions from the fields of robotics, space travel, technologies, science, energy and sustainability while learning the German language.

The Launch of the Junioruni in the USA!

Combine STEM with German: The global educational platform “JUNIORUNI” will be available in the U.S. starting in 2021! Join our live launch on September 28, 2021 from 10am until 2pm EST. The event takes place at the Planet Word Museum in Washington DC and can be attended via live stream from all over the U.S. and Mexico (see link below). The well-known German TV moderator and author Ranga Yogeshwar and the renown astrophysicist Heino Falcke will also be in attendance.

For school classes and students ages 14 and older. The event is free of charge but requires registration at:

At Home

Students can work on the platform at home. The online platform is offered at no cost and is freely accessible for all.

At School

Didactic materials are offered to teachers who want to work with the JuniorUni in class or outside of class.

Soon, you will be able to find a list with recommendations of JuniorUni lectures that fit with topics from German textbooks and can be used as additional material!

Why CLIL?

Content and Language Integrated Learning = CLIL. Here you will learn all about the didactic concept of the JuniorUni and one of the leading methods of modern foreign language learning.

Didactic Materials

The JuniorUni can be used in the classroom! We have developed CLIL modules for German teachers to use in the classroom. These modules are available in German in the teacher version of the JuniorUni. Create an account!


Live Events

Starting in 2022, the Digital JuniorUni will participate in various events and cooperate with partners - so you can get acquainted with the project live or in-person.

JuniorUni Regional Coordinators

Starting in 2022, regional coordinators will offer events in their region that focus on learning German in conjunction with learning to program using the CLIL method.

Coding with the Calliope mini

The Calliope mini is a minicomputer that learners can use to learn to program in German. It is easy to get started. Children, teachers, and parents can get started without any previous knowledge - and have lots of fun! More details TBA in 2022!

Digital Kinderuni

The German Digital Children's University is a free educational project of the Goethe-Institut for children aged 8 to 12. The online platform offers the opportunity to learn about different areas of knowledge and to introduce children to the German language in a playful way.
