For many years I worked as a teacher and offered professional development trainings for teachers in the northern German city of Bremerhaven. After moving to Bremen and working for several years as a school principal, I moved to the Bremer senate, where, as a senator, I was responsible for the youth and education sector, supervising and overseeing a large number of schools.
In addition, I also worked as a speaker for intercultural affairs and also a rapporteur for migration issues for the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany. A very challenging and personally meaningful task was the management of a staff unit responsible for the integration of all new migrant students in Germany.
In summer 2017 I started working for the German Central Office for Schools Abroad (ZfA) where, as a German Language Adviser I have been responsible for the Northeast region of the U.S. I support schools with German programs in several states and am responsible for the German language diploma (DSD) in the region.
After many years of experience in all areas pertaining to school education, the training as a coach with the Goethe-Institut has offered me a new opportunity to share my knowledge with German teachers. With my work I would like to contribute to the stabilization of German programs and support the development of German teachers.
