Shila Rahmani Coutard
I grew up in the beautiful city of Heidelberg, a college town in southwest Germany. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in education, and have attended relevant training and internships to qualify as a teacher of German as a Foreign Language. I have gained experience and valuable expertise by teaching German to adults with diverse cultural backgrounds, and also by working with K-12 students, both in Germany and in New York City.
Growing up bilingual I learned early in life that speaking a foreign language is more than just knowing its grammar. Learning a new language is opening a gate to a new exciting world, a new culture, its people and their stories. I believe the key to successful learning is the connection and interaction between cognition and emotion.
Through the high quality training, the professional supervision, and the philosophy of lifelong learning at the Goethe-Institut New York, I have learned to improve my own lession plans, and have been given the opportunity to constantly grow professionally.
Working as a Coach for the Goethe-Instut New York I am looking forward to sharing experiences with other professional language instructors, making connections, and learning from each other.
