Boston Jewish Film Festival: Germans and Jews

German Contribution: Germans & Jews

Sunday, November 13, 2:30 pm
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Director: Janina Quint & Tal Recanati
(Documentary, 2016, USA, 76 min)

A private conversation between the two friends — an American Jew and a non-Jewish German — grew into a larger cultural exchange as they realized that their people have been inextricably linked through recent history. Over the past century, Germany has gone from victims to perpetrators to defenders of human rights and democracy, becoming a leader in refugee resettlement and home to the fastest growing Jewish population in Europe — positions that could never have been imagined in 1945. Through personal stories, Germans & Jews explores Germany’s transformation as a society, from silence about the Holocaust to facing it head on.

The Boston Jewish Film Festival celebrates the richness of the Jewish experience through film and media. Throughout the year, the Festival engages and inspires the community to explore the full spectrum of Jewish life, values and culture.
