10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Villa Academy

Calling all kids! Join children’s book author Antje Damm for a reading of her book Waiting for Goliath, a story about patience and acceptance, at 10:00 am in German.

The reading of Waiting for Goliath is open to the public – no registration necessary. Come with open ears!

Then, at 10:45, kids can participate in a workshop connected to Antje Damm’s new book The Visitor.

The Visitor is a story about friendship and shyness that plays out in a mini theatre, as a child unwittingly brings light and color―literally―into a lonely person's life.

Elise was frightened―of spiders, people, even trees. So she never went out, night or day. One day a strange thing flies in through the window and lands at her feet. And then there comes a knock at the door. Elise has a visitor who will change everything.

The unique artwork has a doll's house appeal. Antje Damm creates a diorama from cardboard and photographs the scenes, giving the illustrations a special luminosity and depth.

Discover how she found her inspiration, how she constructed her book, and learn her technique – each participant will make their own paper airplanes!

For kids aged 5-8. The workshop is free, but space is very limited, so we kindly ask parents to register by email at info-seattle@goethe.de.  In case the workshop is already full, all kids are still welcome to the reading at 10:00!

Antje Damm, born in Wiesbaden, Germany, is an architect and acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator. The Visitor  was a New York Times Best Illustrated Book 2018.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE READING AND THE WORKSHOP WILL BE HELD IN GERMAN.
