Goethe Pop Up Seattle is again partnering with the Children’s Film Festival Seattle to present this year’s selection of German-language films for kids.

** Filmmaker Katja Benrath in attendance! **

11-year-old Rocca is a clever, creative, and brave girl who lives all by herself in defiance of her teachers and the authorities — why not, since her astronaut father taught her everything she knows? But Rocca must fight to keep her independence and prove to everyone that a child also has the power to change the world.

This film is recommended for kids ages 8+ who can read English subtitles, but younger German speakers will also enjoy the film.

About the filmmaker:
Influenced by theater throughout her youth, Katja Benrath pursued a career in the performing arts in her early professional life. She became a theater tailor and worked for Pina Bausch's dance company. She then completed her studies in Singing and Acting in Vienna, Austria where she also discovered Filmmaking. She received critical acclaim for her short film, Watu Wote / All of Us, for which she won the Student Academy Award and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. Her inspirational film, Rocca Changes the World, won the 2019 German Film Award – Best Children's Film.
