Director: Isabell Šuba,  Screenplay: Lisa Glock, Isabell Šuba. Germany, 2013, 77 min. In German with English subtitles, digital. Cast: Anne Haug, Matthias Weidenhöfer, Eva Bay

When up-and-coming filmmaker Isabell (Haug) is invited to present her short film at the Cannes Film Festival, she believes that she has finally made it.  But upon arrival, her initial excitement quickly fades. Instead of red carpets and caviar, she is greeted by her incompetent and chauvinistic producer David (Weidenhöfer). For both filmmaker and producer, their relationship is strictly a partnership of convenience, as they seek funding for her next project.
Adding insult to injury, Isabell realizes that there are no films from female filmmakers presented as part of the competition category at the festival. Forced to look reality straight in the eye, Isabell soon finds out that David’s neanderthal-like behavior seems to be the norm. Even in Cannes, there is no exception to the rule: “men show their movies & women their breasts.”
Part self-referential documentary, part improvised drama, the “real” Isabell Šuba’s film is an experiment in reality: turning her invitation to the 2012 Cannes Festival into an opportunity to shed light on inequality within the film industry .
