Flea Market! Film! Fun!

It’s our super special Book Fair again!
We’re celebrating all you little book worms with another fun filled Matinee!

Spend a Sunday at the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles with a special Kinder Matinee where it's all about the books! Children’s books mostly and then mounds of books for grown-ups.

Same format as in previous years: We will have a large selection of used and new books, CDs and DVDs at bargain prices and kids are invited to rent a table flea-market style to sell their own toys, books, etc.
We will serve Ahoi Brause as always and have coffee, cake and fun for young and old. The Book Fair and Flea Market starts at 10:00am and books go fast.
Parking in the building is only 1$ with a validation from us.

Plus – by popular demand, at 11:30am we’ll screen last year’s German Currents family film again:

HEIDI

Joahanna Spyri’s classic children’s novels return to the screen for a new generation.
When Aunt Dete (Schinz) sends young orphan Heidi (Steffen) to live with her gruff and solitary grandfather (Ganz) in the Swiss Alps, the two get off to a rough start.  However, Heidi soon melts her grandfather’s heart and the two form a close bond.
As Heidi grows to love her new Alpine home and her friend Peter (Agrippi) the goatherder, Aunt Dete returns to take Heidi away to Frankfurt to live as a companion to the wealthy, wheelchair-bound young girl, Klara (Ottmann).
Though homesick and out-of-place, Heidi makes the best of her situation, soon inspiring those around her.

This is a timeless story of knowing who you are and remaining true to yourself, no matter where you might be.
