Frieze Projects sees artist Tino Sehgal bring This Is Competition – a situation originally conceived for an art fair – to Frieze Los Angeles, over 15 years after participating in the inaugural edition of Frieze Art Fair in London in 2003.This is Competition features representatives from two of the artist’s galleries, alternating words as they explain and enact his works, forcing the dealers to cooperate as they compete to sell the artist’s work. PLEASE NOTE: Photo or video documentation of Sehgal’s work is not permitted.

Frieze Los Angeles: Opening at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, Frieze Los Angeles features 70 leading galleries from the city itself and across the world celebrating Los Angeles’ position as a global arts center and destination. The fair features a site-specific program of talks, music and commissioned artist projects organized in collaboration with leading curators.

Tino Sehgal: Berlin-based artist Tino Sehgal studied political economy and dance, and was a member of Les Ballets C. de la B. dance company early in his career. He has presented one person exhibitions at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, Tate Modern in London, and Palais de Tokyo in Paris, among other institutions. In 2005, he represented Germany at the 55th Venice Biennale, where he was awarded the Golden Lion prize in 2015.

Presented with Marian Goodman Gallery, Jan Mot and Esther Schipper. Additional support provided by Goethe-Institut
