Networking event German dual language symposium: Panel Discussion and Networking evening

The Goethe-Institut New York is organizing a symposium on German dual language programs for teachers, school administrators, and parents from New York City and the tri-state area.

On Friday evening (6:30pm) we host a networking event and a reception for school principals, superintendents, and teachers who already work in or are interested in offering a dual language program at their schools.

Panel discussion „The future of bilingual education: best practice models from the U.S. and abroad“
Panelists:
  • Christine Helot is a professor in the Teacher Education Department at the University of Starasbourg, France
  • Fabrice Jaumont  holds a Ph.D. in International Education from New York University. He has published several articles and book chapters on the topics of language maintenance, education development, and philanthropy. He currently serves as Program Officer for FACE Foundation in New York, and as Education Attaché for the Embassy of France to the United States.
  • Norman Sieweke is a consultant with the Institute for Innovation in Second Language Education (IISLE) at Edmonton Public Schools; he provides support for the teaching and learning of second languages, in particular for Bilingual Programs, in the areas of literacy, pedagogy, assessment, resources, technologies, program alignment and curriculum planning.
  • Johanna Watzinger-Tharp is an associate professor in the Department of Linguistics, and senior advisor to the Office of Global Engagement at the University of Utah. Her current research focuses on dual language immersion, in particular student achievement and outcomes, and international education.
