Disaster in paradise: On the Canary Islands the German tourist Nathalie Zeugin encounters a refugee accident. A boat with Africans has been stranded where she sees a man with his young son among the survivors. Nathalie tries to help but a policeman, made callous by his job, sends her away. However, the refugee Zola and little Mamadou get in contact with the German tourist, who decides to help them –against the wishes of her husband. But the money, which was supposed to help the African refugees flee to the continent, leads to a disaster that Nathalie could not foresee. COLOR OF THE OCEAN is a red-hot film about the humanitarian and political crises in Europe in connection with the tide of African immigration.

Director: Maggie Peren, Germany, 2010/11
