Join Luigi Toscano for an artist talk and reception in honor of LEST WE FORGET on view at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza through May 19, 2019. Luigi Toscano will share how he came to embark on this project and the emotional experience of interviewing survivors for the portraits. The artist talk is followed by a small reception. Light refreshments will be served.

LEST WE FORGET features 78 large-scale portraits of Holocaust survivors, including 15 from San Francisco. Luigi Toscano has visited and taken portraits of almost 300 Holocaust survivors in the United States, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Belarus, Austria and the Netherlands so far. In April 2018, LEST WE FORGET was shown in Washington, DC where more than 120 portraits were placed along the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

The exhibition is presented by the Goethe-Institut San Francisco and the German Consulate General San Francisco, under the patronage of Heiko Maas, foreign Minister Federal Republic of Germany, with heartfelt gratitude to Barbro and Bernard Osher for their generosity. With appreciation for the support of the Consulate General of Israel, the Consulate General of Italy, and the Italian Cultural Center.
