COVID-19 PROTOCOL
Proof of vaccination or negative test required; Everyone attending this program will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test within the past 72 hours of the day of the event along with a matching photo ID. Proof of vaccination can be your physical vaccine card or a photo of your vaccine card. Documentation must have your full legal name that matches to your proof of identification (driver's license, passport, etc.). Face masks must be worn in the Goethe-Institut at all times.

OUTDOOR SCREENING ADVISORY
This film will be screened outdoors on a rooftop terrace the evening of October 7, between 7:30pm and 9:00pm. If it rains, we will relocate the screening indoors. Please dress accordingly as the terrace is not heated.

"When a German neo-nazi band performs the lyric, “this bullet is for you, Mo Asumang,” the journalist and TV presenter sets out to overcome her fears and investigate the roots of racism in German culture. With tenacity and courage, Asumang interrogates neo-nazis and eventually takes the advice of one literally: Asumang goes back to where she came from (no, not to her birthplace in Kassel – to the home of her father: Ghana). Asumang turns the provocation into an opportunity and meets with her family to learn more about her Akan heritage. Rather than look for differences, Asumang finds similarities between German and Ghanaian culture. Roots Germania tells a speculative history of Germany, one where xenophobia and hate are a contradiction to Germanness."

Shaping the Past: Past as Process
Mo Asumang is an acclaimed filmmaker, actress, and TV presenter, well known in Germany due to her brave documentary movies and TV moderation. She was featured in an article by
USA TODAY which linked President Obama and Mo Asumang as 'kindred souls', and has been compared in the media to filmmaker Michael Moore. She has led workshops and lectured on racism and social integration in universities and schools in Germany, Africa, Europe, and across the USA.
Since the beginning of her career as a TV moderator in Germany in 1996, she has became a well known cultural figure and has taken on a successful career as both producer, writer, actress, and film director as well as moderator. In recent years Mo has dedicated her many talents and her energy to creative activism in the field of racism.
