Wintercearig 2020: Earth Exhibition

The year of 2020 has witnessed massive changes due to the spread of COVID-19 and led to many “new normal” situations, and perhaps, most importantly among which is becoming more comfortable with yourself during social isolation.

Understanding the need to reconnect with ourselves under this “new normal”, inspired by the Buddha’s teaching about the interconnection between oneself and their surroundings, W; 2020 has created an interactive exhibition to serve this purpose, themed

EARTH (terracotta) - Grounding and Balance.

This exhibition emphasizes the expression of mind and body, as a mean to overcome emotional difficulties, which will be conducted through non-verbal communication. Through the workshops, participants will also be able to enhance their creative thinking, contemplate their self-esteem, and acquire a sense of accomplishment. In addition, participants will also be provided with support and connection with other service providers, local therapists for support, if needed. Specifically, The W; 2020 exhibition will include spaces for exclusive grounding experience such as:

• The Meditating area (which scheduled guided meditations)
• The Zen garden: herbs, landscaping, and more!
• Exhibition of W; artworks in 2020 and previous accomplishments
• Expressive workshop series: Meditative arts, Art therapy, Expressive writing, etc. (registration required)
• Scratch night: ending the year of 2020 with the theme of “Hope” - exclusive performances from the community!

(*) Note: apart from the scheduled workshops and mediation sessions (further information will be announced later), the exhibition is open for public participation from 20th November to 28th November, from 10 AM to 9 PM. Entrance tickets are FREE! Just be sure to click “Going” on our Facebook event and follow volunteers’ instruction for COVID-19 measures before entering.

About Wintercearig:
Wintercearig is a multi-phase, community project to raise awareness around mental health issues in Vietnam through the creative arts. Every year there will be a color theme designated for each of the phases to help envision the concept and follow a bigger story:

• Wintercearig (2017) - Navy - the color of the sky, the beginning of the universe, and everything beyond
• Forest (2018) - Golden Green - representing the soul that is wilting, falling deep into the dark forest, a metaphor for the depth of despair, depression
• The Clearing (2019) - Green - stepping out from the forest into the clearing, where one is no longer wilting but thriving
