Consultation sessions with local community

In order to learn more about the actual situation of the tourism potential of Tam My Tay Commune as well as the needs of the local community in general and the Pioneer group in particular, the project hosted field trips and discussions with the local authorities and local communities.

On April 19, 2022, a consultation session with the local community on tourism development and tourism regulation. Participated in this field trip and consultation sessions the representatives from the Quang Nam Tourism Association, CAB Hoian and GreenViet Centre. The implementation advisory group also met some members of the Gray-shanked Douc Conservation Pioneer group to find out the opinions and wishes of the community. Especially, the team went on a field trip to Hon Do Mountain area to learn about the current state of natural resources and the potential for tourism development. The results show that this area has potential for eco-tourism and the community also agree that there should be a regulation to orient the development of tourism in this area in order to protect the Gray-shanked Douc species as well as the local cultural values.

GreenViet held a meeting with the Forest Protection Department, representatives of the Commune People's Committee on September 14, 2022 and two field trips on June 22 and October 3, 2022 in Tam My Tay commune to get more information and confirm the agreement among communities and localities in developing sustainable community-based tourism in the area. As a result of consultations, all parties agreed that there should be a Community-Based Tourism Regulation in this area.

Organized 02 meetings with the Gray-shanked Douc Conservation Pioneer group (including 19 members) on April 7, 2022 and October 13, 2022 to consult on opportunities to develop community-based tourism models and tourism regulation in this area. More than 70% of the members participated in the meetings. The group strongly support the development of livelihoods through community-based tourism, especially agree on the benefit sharing in the regulation to contribute to the conservation of the Gray-shanked Douc species.
