PREFACE BY AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN BERGER TO THE GOETHE-INSTITUT’S NEW SERIES
The traditionally good relations between Vietnam and Germany are also motivating more and more Vietnamese young people to seek their professional future in Germany. Five of them appear in this video series by the Goethe-Institut. We meet Thu Nguyen Thi, who has chosen a very responsible profession as a geriatric care specialist in Berlin. The computer scientist Ngo Minh Duc works for Volkswagen and has started a family in Bochum. We learn what the "German Dream" means for trader Nguyen Hoang Trung, what the doctor Nguyen Thi Lien Phuong loves about Hamburg and what makes Nguyen Hong Mai proud of her job at Mercedes. The portraits show people who have realized their dream and who have found in Germany not only a profession, but also a new home.Perhaps the videos will awaken in some of you an interest in Germany - this would please me greatly. At the same time, it is very important to me that no one goes to Germany with unrealistic expectations. Good knowledge of the language is essential; and difficulties and doubts are unavoidable. So it is all the more important to embark upon your trip to Germany with the best possible preparation. This is why I would like to give this advice all who want to live and work in Germany: Take advantage of what is offered by the Goethe-Institut, which is an experienced and reliable provider of language courses and can furnish information on all questions regarding professional migration. And now I wish you a very enjoyable time watching the video portraits!
