For the second time Werner Heinrich Schmitt is guest of honor at the „ASIA – EUROPE NEW MUSIC FESTIVALS 2018“. On November 24th the VNSO performed the premiere of his orchestra piece “The End of an Odyssey”. The Goethe-Institute invites everyone to learn more about the compositional works of Werner Heinrich Schmitt. The composer and pianist presents his life as artist and his compositional works with audio samples. He is looking forward to get into a dialogue with his musician colleagues and the audience.
Werner H. Schmitt (*1961, Mannheim) began his piano studies under legendary Vitaly Marguilis in Freiburg where he also took his examination as artist. Under Fany Solter in Freiburg he completed his studies as soloist with distinctions. As commissioned work by the federal state Rhineland-Palatinate he composed his first piano concert which he premiered in 2003 with the regional youth orchestra under direction of Michael Luig and himself as soloist. This events marks only one of Schmitt’s highlights as pianist and composer. Further important works of Schmitt are documented on broadcast recordings from SWR and MDR, and a CD with piano and chamber music works.
