In cooperation with THD education Solutions Co and the Director of the Research Center for Educational Information and Forecasting (EIFC), the Vietnamese Institute for Educational Science (VNIES), the Goethe-Institut is organizing the eight edition of the international Science Film Festival in Vietnam.

This year 12 films were selected from 278 submissions. The selected films come from Indonesia, England and Germany and the USA. The program is addressed to teachers and pupils of secondary school level. The festival activities consist of film screenings and hands- on workshops. The overall idea of the festival is to promote learning through observation, experiment and discovery.

In Vietnam, the Science Film Festival 2018 will be present in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It was opened in the presence of the Director of the Research Center for Educational Information and Forecasting (EIFC) and will run until on October 22 and will last until December 23, 2018. This year's edition of the Science Film Festival will reach around 10,000 students. The activities will be supported by 125 voluntary workers.

This year's topic of the Science Film Festival is "Food Revolution". This  concerns the  food industry and the associated challenges of the environment. The focus is on the effects of today's agriculture, whose emissions make it one of the biggest pollutants and thus represents a huge threat to the natural environment.

How this threat can be counteracted by conscious, sustainable consumer behavior, is one of the basic issues of this year's Science Film Festival. Therefore, complex content will be conveyed with the help of scientific experiments, as well as entertaining learning games and will be applied through interactive workshop offers.

Through the combination of film and knowledge, a bridge between education and entertainment will be created, whose unique character has a significant impact on the personal and professional development of the target groups.
