Goethe-Institut Hanoi invites the Gewandhaus Choir Leipzig, directed by Gregor Meyer, to Vietnam in order to perform several concerts. On their first evening, the singers from Leipzig will perform an a capella concert consisting of German folk songs covering three centuries in the big concert hall at the Music Academy Hanoi. What’s special about this evening is that anyone who is interested, already gained some experience with choir singing and signs up until October 5, 2016 at Goethe-Institut is invited to join the German singers on the stage and to sing two polyphonic songs with them. The required German notes and texts will be sent to the participants in time, which allows them to prepare themselves for their big performance. On the day of the concert, there will be a collective rehearsal at 2 pm. We’ll let you know the venue in time.

Gregor Meyer © Jens Gerber Gregor Meyer studied choral conducting and church music in Leipzig and has been the conductor of the Gewandhaus Choir since 2007. He repeatedly drafts innovative programmes for the choir which quite often go beyond the limits of classical choir repertoire. For example, he developed sociocultural projects with survivors of the Second World War and performed Bach's "Markuspassion" with a barrier-free access for the deaf. In addition to that, he conducts the Vocalconsort Leipzig that he founded in 1999 and works as a music producer.
