German Literature during the European Literature Days 2019

The European Literature Days 2019 will form the framework of the Goethe-Institut Vietnam with German book presentations in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang. They will take place in Hanoi for the ninth, in Ho Chi Minh City for the fourth time and in Danang for the first time. This vivid literary festival, with contributions from 10 European countries, offers a wide range of activities for all book lovers, and includes presentations, readings, workshops, exhibitions, films, quizzes and prizes. European books, which are available in the shops of the Bookstreet Ho Chi Minh City, are greatly reduced. The annual Festival of European Literature Days, which has been successfully held in Hanoi since 2011, is organized by EUNIC (National Cultural Institutes of the European Union for Culture) and the Association of the European Cultural Institutes and Embassies, and supported by the EU Delegation. The huge variety of books and activities presented by the 2019 European Literature Days in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang provides a unique opportunity to take a closer look at the literature, lifestyles and cultures of Europe.
 
The festival offers a great selection of books from the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the Wallonie-Belgium, and promises something for every readers taste. You can browse books in the conference rooms and exhibitions, with chances to meet authors, listen to talks and readings, register to workshops and participate in many interactive activities. The "European characters in Vietnam" contest, organized by EUNIC and Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, is something to look out for, as the works of the winners will subsequently be exhibited in L'Espace and the Goethe Institut. In Hanoi, the events will take place at Casa Italia, the Goethe-Institut, L'Espace, Hanoi University and the Bluebirds'net Café, while events in Ho Chi Minh City are held at the British Council, IDECAF, USSH University, Café Salon Saturday and in the Book street Ho Chi Minh City. And in Danang you can catch events at the Danang General Science Library and the French Institute.
