Filmscreening of „ Farewell to Europe“ in Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue and Can Tho.

The European Film Festival is a Cultural event organized by the EU Deligation to Vietnam with the participation of the EU Member State embassies and European Cultural Centers in Vietnam. This is the 20th time the European Film Festival takes place in Vietnam and also celebrates the 30th anniversary of EU-Vietnam diplomatic relations.

This year movie lovers can expect a rich film program within the framework of the European Film Festival. Thirteen films from 14 European countries reflect the diversity of European cultures: Journey of youth and maturity, of history and mordern life, of family values ​​and egos in a busy world, of conflicts and hopes.
The Goethe-Institut will be introducing the film "Farewell to Europe" directed by Maria Schrader, which represents the German contribution of this years Film Festival.

About the film

The film tells the last years of life of the writer Stefan Zweig, who came from the Jewish Viennese upper middle class, from 1936 to the common suicide with his second wife Lotte in 1942. “Vor der Morgenröte” also focused on Stefan Zweig’s inner struggle for the “right attitude” toward the events in war torn Europe, and his search for a new home.

Farewell to Europe” is a third film in the role of director of German actress Maria Schrader, helping her won awards in Germany and Europe.
