King Oedipus left behind a corpse with an open wound. With Antigone, the corpse was bruised, decomposed, but the blood had not stopped leaking from the old wound. People would have still been stabbing the corpse many times, but the blood could no longer leak out of the new wounds, and, aside from the characters, nobody really cares.

In Sophocles' Thebans Plays Trilogy timeline, the ending with Antigone’s tragedy evokes a sense of something unimportant, asserting an irreversible consequence of a post-event, a sense of regret and helplessness.

"But once your joy has gone, though these are left
they are smoke's shadow to lost happiness."
- Messenger

Each scene of Antigone is like a transparent layer of content that can be "read" on top of one another, to realize that characters seem to be stuck in what they say, and what others say. As Creon first speaks of the two corpses of Antigone's two brothers at the beginning of the play, he is talking about the very deaths of his son and his wife on the same day. A fairness/justice is manipulated symmetrically and quickly.

“When they two perished by a double fate, on one day struck and striking and defiled each by his own hand, now it comes that I hold all the power and the royal throne through close connection with the perished men.” - Creon

“Quick as you can. The gods move very fast when they bring ruin on misguided men.” - Chorus

In this screening event, a certain number of spectators can experience the play in the same common physical venue. The actors’ performance is pre-recorded and streamed on a shared screen, in a shared experiential space, which associates the notion of a post-event setting.

"Antigone" - as no regeneration - is no more, just a projection, a retelling, a replay. Sound artist - Nguyen Nhung (Sound Awakener) - will immerse audiences’ experience with virtual recording. Corporeal and virtual art events resonate with each other; thus, a true immersive play will take place.

The screening event proposes another possibility of creating a space that is "theatrical" (although the actor - audience relationship is not direct) in the sense that direct human interaction in real theatre space is essential. Audiences can fully experience together the theatrical elements directly in an immersive ambiance which is put in place for them such as smoke, live sound, light...alongside what they will see onscreen. In a way, the mutual audience relationship replaces a part of the actor-audience relationship.

* Notice: Smoke and loud sound will be used in our screening event. Please consider if you have medical issues.
