The Goethe-Institut South Africa is turning 25! Our history is closely connected to that of the Republic of South Africa, since we opened our first office in Rosebank after the end of Apartheid. Similar to Mzansi, we have grown immensely and can now look back on a quarter-century of fostering South African-German relations. We are proud of having created great partnerships (which more often than not have turned into friendships) through our work of encouraging international cultural exchange and supporting the South African arts and culture scenes.
The evening starts with an official ceremony with German Ambassador Martin Schäfer and a thought provoking panel discussion on our role and history in South Africa. Speakers include Zukiswa Wanner (author), Eddie Hatitye (Director: Music In Africa Foundation) and Dr. Samia Chasi (International Education Association of South Africa).
Please note that this event is mainly by invitation and we will only have a few seats for the general public. Our open event will take place from 7.30pm, more information here
