Africa Kommando Elektrolyrik on tour in South Africa
Kommando Elektrolyrik facilitated workshops at South African schools, where German learners blended literature with electronic music. The resulting tracks, themed around “nature” and “social media”, are “wunderbar”.
Kommando Elektrolyrik, consisting of Ivo Theele, Arne Hirsemann, Lukas Schlaffke and Patrick Pieper from Hamburg and Berlin, create an unusual blend of literature, electronic music and performance. In 2010, the group released their first EP „Status geändert“ (Status changed); new tracks are due for release in 2013.
Meaningful entertainmentThe four writers blend seriousness with fun in their use of the German language. Their aim is to reflect on our society in a way that is entertaining yet critical.
In October 2012, Kommando Elektrolyrik toured South Africa, where they facilitated creative workshops with young learners of German, and also played a few concerts. Workshops were held at secondary schools in Johannesburg, Betlehem and Stellenbosch.
