An Artist-Run Project Space

Goethe On Main © Goethe-Institut Johannesburg

The Goethe-Institut’s multi-disciplinary project space GoetheOnMain in Maboneng closed its doors on 26 November, after having hosted more than 70 exhibitions, workshops, events and performances from the fields of visual art, literature, film, music, dance and theatre since May 2009. From 2017 on, the new initiative Goethe-Institut Project Space (GPS) carries forward GoetheOnMain’s idea of a multi-disciplinary space for artistic experimentation, while widening the scope on work realized all over South Africa.
