Project Support

Project Support © Thabang Radebe

Seeking support for your cultural or arts project?

The cultural programmes department at the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg plans projects a year in advance. However, we have the capacity to look at more immediate support twice within the calendar year.

Our deadlines 2022 are:

18 February 2022
We will review projects starting earliest from mid-May 2022; with feedback provided by early-March 2022.

12 August 2022
We will review projects starting earliest from mid-November 2022; with feedback provided by end-August 2022.

Please email details of the project to Samantha Modisenyane samantha.modisenyane@goethe.de.

Your proposal should include the following elements:

  • a project description (max 750 words)
  • a timeline (noting the various phases and realisation dates)
  • a budget (with line-items, and details of support already solicited, in-kind or otherwise, as well as any funding already confirmed)
  • biographies (professional details about all involved parties)

We look forward to reading you!

Please note that we also accept project proposals on a regular basis (once a year) for our Goethe-Institut Project Space (GPS). Please check the eligibility criteria and if they suit your project.

Please join our newsletter to get notified about all our calls for proposals/funding.

Please note that the cultural programmes department does not provide support for commercial ventures, study or training programmes, and only exceptionally travel support for South Africans invited to German festivals. Please note that due the high volume of applications we are only able to give detailed feedback to successful projects.
