Itumeleng wa Lehulere
Itumeleng wa Lehulere’s  life in the arts and political fraternities spans over thirty years, beginning as an activist in apartheid South Africa. He played a significant role in the formation of the Congress of South African Students (COSAS in the Western Cape).

Wa Lehulere has had a prominent imprint on the performing arts working as a performer, musician, writer and director in both film and television. He also went through and contributed to the Community Arts Project, a community art centre which played a crucial part in Cape Town’s cultural life. Wa Lehulere also spent 12 years as the Director of the Ikhwezi Annual Theatre Festival which was done in association with the Baxter Theatre Center at the University of Cape Town.

Wa Lehulere currently serves as the Convener of the Factory of the Arts at the University of the Western Cape’s Centre for Humanities Research.
