Tankiso Mamabolo is a South African singer, songwriter, actor and award winning playwright. After graduating from the UCT drama department in 2015, She began a successful career in acting, writing and performing in Musical theatre productions such as Marc Lottering’s Aunty Merle The Musical which gained her Naledi and Fleur Du Cup Theatre award nominations for best supporting actress in a musical. Her collaborative play ‘The Fall’ toured internationally and received awards at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival as well as being put on the New York Times critics choice list.

A passionate musician, Tankiso’s self produced show debuted at the Masambe theatre in 2018 to critical acclaim. She has performed on SABC’s Afternoon express, The Baxter Theatre Golden Arrow Studio, Greatmore Studios Trust as well as at the Waterfront Amphitheatre. She has since released her independently released album, Freedom Hurts Sometimes as well opening for acclaimed musical Mandisi’s Dyantyis.

Tankiso is known for her experimental sound that incorporates different genres to tell stories and critically discuss issues facing Africans as well as celebrating the diversity the African continent offers. As of 2022, Tankiso is working towards the release of her second album while she also works as the first Musical resident at well respected art Gallery, The Greatmore Studios Trust.
