Khanyisile Mawhayi

Khanyi Mawhayi (b. 1998) is an artist and curator from Kagiso, South Africa. She is a multidisciplinary artist who is interested in ideas surrounding opacity and transparency and the various influences on identity formation.

Her work has been included in the Kampala Biennale (2020) as an apprentice in Tracey Rose’s studio, also also also and and and, an exhibition curated by Luvuyo Equiano Nyawose for the Institute of Creative Arts as well as a solo offering in Stevenson Gallery’s Stage project. She has written text for the Africa South Arts Initiative and co-curated a show titled Sphere with Lesole Tauatswala.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand. She currently works as a curatorial assistant at Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa.
