Offer to become a course instructor for our intercultural training program
In the framework of the project "Pre-Integration - Living and Working in Germany", funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and co-financed by the European Union (EU), the Goethe-Institut South Africa is looking for coures instructors to conduct various workshop formats and information events on intercultural training (a. basic module with intercultural context to everyday life, b. regional studies in respect to culture and customs as well as to the public and authorities, and c. advanced model of professional life in an intercultural context) in the period from January 2024 to June 2025.
The project targets the following groups: trainees and skilled workers, their family members or spouses of German citizens who like to join their partners in order to permanently live and work in Germany.
The becoming course instructors will take part in a specifically designed training program, which will take place both digitally (probably over 2 weeks with approx. 13 teaching units (à 45 mins) per week or over 4 weeks with approx. 7 units per week and face-to-face (1 full-day final training + 1 accompanying live event).
There is a time period during the course which is assigned to group work during which the participants will create content on chosen topics. The process is accompanied and monitored by our trainers and the final product is a presentation to be given at the end of the course.
Scheduled period of the trainings are as follows:
Option 1 – 2 weeks: 20.11.-01.12.23 or 07.12.-21.12.2023
or
Option 2 – 4 weeks: 22.11.-20.12.2023
Both including the phase for self-oriented learning and group work: Dec. 2023-January 2024
Closing event at the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg on 20 or 27.01.2024 + accompanying live workshop on 22 or 29.01.2024.
The exact times and dates will be confirmed and depend on the number of participants.
This training will not be remunerated.
However, travel allowances in the form of lump sums for the day of the face-to-face event will be agreed upon by prior arrangement.
The Goethe-Institut South Africa certifies your successful participation in this training and your work as a coures instructor in the context of Pre-integration project.
In the period from January 2024 to June 2025 we will offer 3 workshop modules to our target groups of the Pre-integration project (digital or face-to-face) approximately every 2-3 months.
Face-to-face training locations are mainly South Africa, although workshops in our neighboring countries (Botswana, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia) are planned. Workshops will most likely be held in the evenings or on weekends.
As a certified course instructor of our program, you can the conduct the above-mentioned workshops for us. The workshops will be tendered and will be awarded according to availability, fairness, location and sustainability.
Such workshop is scheduled and comprises of approx. 6 units (à 45 mins).
The respective payment is then made on a fee basis, set by the Goethe-Institut for the respective locations or locations.
For events / workshops, travel expenses will be reimbursed after prior approval within the framework of the Federal Travel Expenses Act converted to the local currency.
Please keep in mind that this opportunity to become a coach does not correspond to a regular, fixed income; this work is considered a self-employed, freelance-based activity.

These are the requirements you bring with you:
Proven German language skills of at least A2 - ideally B1.
Experience in the design and delivery of face-to-face teaching and workshops
Experience in designing and delivering online teaching and digital workshops.
Knowledge of living and working in Germany
Presentation and communication skills
Intercultural competence
Availability in and around the following periods / dates: 20.11.-22.12.23 and 20.01 or 27.01.2024 (date to be determined jointly in November)
Openness to collective work processes
